Maybe I need a real javascript to sign the document when approved, save it down to a jpg, rename the file appropriately, and drop it in the archive as a pdf since that is what the client desires. For nearly 10 thousand forms a year its still not enough. I ahve been trying different things with the action wizard and I can shorten the steps involved by about 30%. So what I need is a way to convert the interactive document to a completely flat ie " a screen capture" and save it to archive in a single move. Once the interactive function of the document is completed there is no reason for it to be editable anymore as flattening allows. There is obviously a reason since I am asking for a way to do it. You might as well just take a screen capture." You can use 'Save As' in Acrobat to export the pages of a PDF to image files but you lose every possible advantage of the PDF file format.

It seems to make the markups visible to InDesign… I dont like how my signature can be easily copied like that. You do get a reassuring green tick when it's done! I follow your instruction, but resulted pdf when open in adobe acrobat pro still have the signature item (originally was an signature image inserted using place signature wizard, image option) available to be selected and saved as image. I used this "as is" without editing the settings. Advanced menu > Preflight…> PDF fixups… > Flatten annotations and form fields
The method I've tried (after duplicating the files into a folder called "flattened pdfs") is: I tried the UVSAR Flattener Script it worked fine on the first file, then on the second one I got an error message and the map background disappeared!
